Kit Owen-Smith – Trustee Kit brings extensive experience of working in the charitable sector to his role as an RLSS UK trustee. He has worked or volunteered for eight charities since 2005, including the leading water safety charities of RLSS UK and RNLI. He has held management positions in fundraising since 2022 and has a wide range of experience in different branches of fundraising, including church and community partnerships; event, speaker, volunteer management and wills. He has also been a trustee for a small children’s charity and was its chairman for six years. He did lifesaving at school and then joined British Universities Life Saving Clubs’ Association (BULSCA) while at Nottingham University captaining the B Team to Student National Championship’s bronze medal. He then set up two lifesaving clubs in schools as after-school activities. He regularly supports both BULSCA and RLSS UK competitions, attends Retford & District Lifesaving Club, and is setting up a lifesaving club at Wolverhampton University. His passions are to see RLSS UK raise more funds, increase the retention of young people in RLSS UK following university, and increase the number of clubs providing training for adults.
