This partnership helps both the Royal Life Saving Society UK and Child Bereavement UK to strengthen how we work at the crossover point in each of our expert fields when someone drowns.

About our Partnership

The Royal Life Saving Society UK and Child Bereavement UK are continuing to work in partnership to support each other’s charitable aims.

In our individual fields, our work crosses over on occasions where someone dies as a result of drowning. Child Bereavement UK is primely positioned to support children and families going through bereavement with professional support. When that bereavement is because someone has drowned, the Royal Life Saving Society UK is often an organisation individuals may reach out to for somewhere to turn after such a tragedy.

Royal Life Saving Society UK, as a part of our ethos of supporting families and communities, wants to be able to signpost to the right support and promote the services that Child Bereavement UK provides. This direct signposting to the appropriate support mutually benefits Royal Life Saving Society UK to help children and families, and support Child Bereavement UK in its aims to offer its bereavement support services to all.

Bereavement due to drowning can be a shocking and traumatic loss, and in these instances, making sure targeted intervention is available is extremely important and necessary for those affected by such a loss.

About Child Bereavement UK

Child Bereavement UK helps families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. The charity supports children and young people (up to the age of 25) when someone important to them has died or is not expected to live, and parents and the wider family when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying.

Child Bereavement UK also provides training to professionals in health and social care, education, the emergency services and the voluntary and corporate sectors, equipping them to provide the best possible care to bereaved families.

Child Bereavement UK works in collaboration with a variety of organisations in different capacities – from delivering bespoke training for staff and volunteers; and providing consultancy and support to help other organisations with shared aims to develop sustainable, quality services; to consulting on bodies representing the voice of bereaved children and families.
