The Institute of Swimming and RLSS UK are excited to open applications for the next Pool Plant Tutor training programme! Our tutors are vital to the success of our programme, ensuring that aspiring pool plant professionals receive engaging, inspiring, and technically sound training. We aim to enable safe and expertly managed aquatic facilities for all. The Institute of Swimming is a Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG) approved training provider that delivers pool plant courses awarded by RLSS UK Qualifications. This commitment to quality means our courses consistently meet and exceed the highest standards and PWTAG guidelines, which are widely recognised as best practices in the industry. What is an Institute of Swimming and RLSS UK Pool Plant Tutor? Upon achieving Full Tutor Status, educators will be qualified to deliver the Institute of Swimming’s suite of pool plant courses via face to face delivery, including: RLSS UK Pool Plant Operators Certificate Delivery of additional Pool Plant courses and the option of virtual delivery will be subject to additional training and development. Prerequisites to Become an Institute of Swimming and RLSS UK Pool Plant Tutor To ensure the highest course quality, candidates must meet specific criteria. PWTAG Membership: You must be a full PWTAG Full Member (MPWTAG) at the time of applying. Meet PWTAG’s Course Tutor Standard: You must meet the standards required for PWTAG Approved Training Organisation SPTO course Tutors. You can review these standards at: www.pwtag.org/standard-required-for-pwtag-accredited-trainers Candidates must show evidence of passing a Pool Plant Operator course which at a minimum covers all the essential topics outlined in the PWTAG Swimming Pool Technical Operator syllabus. Within 3 months of being assigned Probationary Tutor Status you must hold the RLSS UK Pool Plant Operators Qualification. Previous Training Delivery Experience: Demonstrated experience in delivering training within a leisure, aquatic, or sport environment is essential (e.g., RLSS UK, STA, other sports, or relevant industry teaching experience). Level 3 Award in Education & Training: You must hold a Level 3 Award in Education & Training or a suitable equivalent prior to undertaking Stage 4 course delivery attachments. Pool Plant Person Specification How to Become a Pool Plant Tutor for the Institute of Swimming and RLSS UK The recruitment process consists of three stages, followed by practical training and attachments. Successful completion of all stages is required to be assigned as a Probationary Pool Plant Tutor. Current applications for Pool Plant Tutors are now closed. Below is the application process to become a Pool Plant Tutor. Stage 1: Application Stage 2: Interview Online Interviews The interview will require delivery of a 10-minute presentation on the applicant’s experience in the industry. Successful applicants notified Stage 3: Training and Appraisal Tutor Training Orientation Webinar Face-to-Face Training and Appraisal Days There will be planning and assessment tasks associated with the training programme; details will be provided on the training days. Successful applicants from Stage 3 will be assigned Probationary Tutor Status. Stage 4: Further Training and Attachments Tutor CPD Day Training Tasks: Introduction to an experienced tutor and observation of courses for face-to-face and virtual delivery courses. Training Tasks: Including observation of a course and an interview with an experienced tutor Attachments: To both face-to-face and virtual delivery placements on RLSS UK National Pool Plant Operator Courses. During attachments, trainees will be with an experienced tutor 100% of the time. They will deliver sections of the course, guided and mentored by the experienced tutor throughout the process, leading up to a full face-to-face course delivery for sign off. Tutor Status Once trainee tutors successfully complete all the training days in Stage 3, they will be granted Probationary Tutor status. Probationary Tutor Status is valid for 24 months from the date of awarding. Full tutor status must be achieved before the probationary period expires. Completion of Probationary Status and advancement to Full Tutor status will be subject to: Full attendance at all training days. All Tutor Training programme prerequisites being in place.
