NRASTC Trainer Assessors (TA) are responsible for the delivery of the RLSS UK National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC) and RLSS UK National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches LIGHT (NRASTC LIGHT) throughout the UK and overseas.



How to Become an RLSS UK NRASTC Trainer Assessor

There are two routes to become a fully qualified RLSS UK NRASTC Trainer Assessor: 

Route 1) You are an existing RLSS UK Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessor (NPLQ TA) [Skip to this section]. 

Route 2) You are not an existing RLSS UK Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessor (NPLQ TA) [Skip to this section]. 



Route 1)
You ARE an existing RLSS UK Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessor (NPLQ TA).

NPLQ TA Prerequisites: 

How to become an NRASTC Trainer Assessor for NPLQ TAs: 

If you are an existing RLSS UK NPLQ TA, there is an online opportunity to upskill to become a NRASTC TA for £25 within your RLSS UK Account. 

How to access the NRASTC TA opportunity: 

Step 1) Login to your RLSS UK Account. 

Step 2) Find and select ‘Awards and Training’ in the menu. 

Step 3) In that submenu, select ‘Online Learning’. 

Step 4) Select ‘Opportunity’ from the filtering options. You will then see the NRASTC TA opportunity.

Route 2) You ARE NOT an existing RLSS UK Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessor (NPLQ TA) 

This route is for individuals who are not NPLQ TAs and wish to becoming NRASTC Trainer Assessors. 

Non-NPLQ TA Prerequisites: 

How to become an NRASTC Trainer Assessor: 

If you are not an existing NPLQ TA, to become an NRASTC Trainer Assessor, you must complete an RLSS UK Trainer Assessor course with NRASTC specialism. 

The course comprises the following course content: 

Days 1-3 = TA Core Qualification  

Each candidate is required to complete a 3-day TA Core qualification, which includes three modules and allows them to become a Probationary RLSS UK Trainer Assessor for AED.  

  • Module 1: Train the Trainer (1 day)  
  • Module 2: Train the Assessor (1 day)  
  • Module 3: CPR and AED (1 day)  

Day 4 = NRASTC specialism 

The fourth day of the RLSS UK Trainer Assessor course with NRASTC specialism qualifies candidates to become a NRASTC Trainer Assessor.
