The role of the Policy and Public Affairs team is to make RLSS UK’s expertise in water safety available to politicians, civil servants, and other decision makers and stakeholders.

The Roles of the Policy and Public Affairs Team 

That includes: 

  • Providing the Secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Water Safety Education, giving a forum for water safety stakeholders to collaborate with MPs and Peers within Parliament.
  • Engaging with government departments such as the Department for Education (DfE) and the Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
  • Responding to consultations and calls for evidence, including Select Committees.
  • Working with parliamentarians and All-Party Parliamentary Groups to raise important issues with Parliament and beyond.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to turn policy goals into real change.
