The Rookie Lifeguard Beach Programme teaches many of the same skills our real Beach Lifeguards learn when they take their NVBLQ and begin their professional careers saving lives at the beach! The lessons are packed full of fun and games to help Rookies learn lifesaving skills. They’ll also get to practice with real lifeguard equipment, such as rescue tubes and rescue boards to hone their skills. What are the prerequisites? Be aged 8 or over Be able to swim at least 25m confidently in the sea Course content The Rookie Lifeguard Beach programme is designed to teach children water safety awareness, self-rescue, and simulated emergency response skills. Topics covered during the course include: The dangers of coastal water How to survive in water How to respond in an emergency How to rescue others Our environmental impact These topics are brought to life with fun and games designed to improve the Rookies' confidence in water and swimming ability while teaching them valuable skills that will stay with them for life. Find out more about delivering the Rookie Lifeguard Beach programme Rookie Lifeguard Instructors must be aged 18 or over, have completed the Rookie Beach Instructor Endorsement and also hold the following: A current Life Support 3 (or equivalent) A current NVBLQ, NWSMP Coastal Waterways award, an NVBLQ TA Specialism, or an NWSMP TA Specialism The upskill will be available in your RLSS UK Account for £10. Upon the successful completion of this endorsement, you will be given access to an online copy of the Rookie Beach Programme Instructor Manual in your account as soon as one hour later.
