What We Do Our Awards Community Instructor RLSS UK Community Instructors are responsible for delivering RLSS UK’s Save a Life Series workshops, which include: Save a Baby’s Life Save a Child’s Life Save an Adult’s Life Save a Life AED The Save a Life Series is a community outreach programme to teach basic CPR skills to those caring for a baby, child, or adult. Workshops can be delivered as a ‘donation-based’ workshop or a ‘pay-to-attend’ workshop. Learn more about the differences between these two types of workshops. Become a Community Instructor There are two routes to becoming a Community Instructor: Route 1) You are an existing RLSS UK Trainer Assessor (or higher) or Lifesaving Academy Tutor (or higher). Route 2) You do not meet any of the requirements listed in Route 1. Route 1) You are an existing RLSS UK Trainer Assessor (or higher) or Lifesaving Academy Tutor (or higher) If you are an existing RLSS UK Trainer Assessor (or higher) or Lifesaving Academy Tutor (or higher), you already meet the prerequisites to become a Community Instructor. To begin delivering Save a Life Series workshops, please follow these instructions: Step 1) Log in to your RLSS UK Account Step 2) Use the menu to find and select ‘Resources’ Step 3) Find and select the ‘Save a Life Series (Community Outreach)’ folder. All the resources you need to deliver a Save a Life Series workshop are in this folder. Remember to advertise your Save a Life Series workshops on the RLSS UK Course Finder. This means that courses are viewable to everyone visiting the RLSS UK Course Finder every day, meaning you can fill your workshops more easily and quickly! Route 2) You do not meet any of the requirements listed in Route 1 Anyone can become an RLSS UK Community Instructor, but you need to meet the following course prerequisites: Be aged 16 years or older. Hold a current Life Support 3 Award (or join a course which combines Community Instructor and Life Support 3 Award). Hold an RLSS UK Membership. Find a Community Instructor course near you Understanding the Two Types of Save a Life Series Workshops There are two ways to deliver a Save a Life Series workshop: Donation-based workshop Pay-to-attend workshop The workshop content doesn’t differ; only the method of payment made by the workshop attendees and the process of ordering Save a Life Series z-cards differ. Donation-based Save a Life Workshops If you deliver a donation based Save a Life Series workshop, you ask workshop attendees to donate to RLSS UK, rather than charging them an attendance fee. After the workshop, it is your responsibility, as the workshop instructor, to donate the total value of the donations collected to RLSS UK using the ‘Community Outreach Workshop – Donation Returns Form’ PDF within your RLSS UK Account. How to order Save a Life workshop z-cards Pay-to-attend Save a Life Workshops If you deliver a pay-to-attend Save a Life Series workshop, you are charging people to attend the workshop. This payment is paid to you as the workshop instructor or to the organisation hosting the workshop. As you are charging for attendance, there is a fee for ordering the Save a Life Series workshop z-cards, and a delivery fee will be applicable. To order Save a Life Series z-cards for a pay-to-attend workshop, you will need to use your RLSS UK Account.
