Already running a Lifesaving Club or thinking of starting a new one? Here’s why the Club Development Team think you should consider getting accredited to RLSS UK Club Check.

The Club Development Team recognises and values the commitment made by all our lifesaving clubs to develop high quality, welcoming environments for young participants. We have developed an accreditation that enables clubs to showcase their hard work, whilst ensuring they always have all the relevant and up to date procedures in place.

Our new Club Check accreditation means that clubs will need to regularly review (every two years) their general procedures and policies to ensure that they conform to the standards required by the certification.

In order to pass, clubs will provide policies and documents showing good governance, such as attendance sheets, data protection and safeguarding policies, AGM minutes, equipment checks, club constitution, code of conduct and role descriptors. As these are the documents clubs should already have in place, Club Check is a great way to make sure everything is up to date, taking away many administration worries.

On completion of the accreditation, clubs will receive a Club Check club certificate and logo to advertise your commitment to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for your members. This creates an opportunity for clubs to also gain benefits such as:

• Increased membership
• Promote good practices
• Volunteer development

The RLSS UK Club Development team offers templates and guidance to support clubs so they can meet the standards required for Club Check. The accreditation process primarily involves reviewing and updating documents within each club’s RLSS UK account. As most RLSS UK clubs already adhere to these policies, meeting these requirements should not require too much work.
